Kim Il-Gu is a master singer of Dongpyeonje Pansori School and a prominent Ajaeng (large Korean bowed zither having seven strings) instrumentalist. He is a designated performer as Important Cultural Asset of Jeokbyeok-ga, one of five extant Pansoris. He is regarded as the best singer performing the quintessence of the Dongpyeonje Pansori style established by a master Pansori singer, Park Bong-Sul.
